She received her BFA in Fine Arts from University of Victoria majoring in painting and photography. After moving to Los Angeles in the 1990's, she worked as a graphic designer and art director for many years until the arrival of her daughter Charlie. Founded in 2015, Pietsie originally started as a children's clothing label. Pietsie (pronounced Peet-see) means 'a little bit' in Dutch - a nickname her mother (who emigrated to Canada from Holland) gave her when she was a baby. In 2016 she debuted her women's collection at the Echo Park Craft Fair in Silverlake using dead-stock and vintage fabrics. Pietsie is designed and made here in Los Angeles using custom fabrics and imported Japanese cottons and flannels. Relaxed silhouettes complete the laid-back daily uniform that we hope will become much-loved staples in your wardrobe."
